We suggest you skip the leather gear and opt up for something lighter. Because we all agree that getting stuck in the traffic in the summer heat, wearing all the heavy gear, is equivalent to hell on Earth. For the summer light-colored, a vented helmet could be a life-saver, keeping you safe and providing a steady flow of the cool air. Mesh clothes and gloves will keep you cool and protected. In the summer months trade your staple motorcycle jacket for the mesh alternative. Underneath we suggest you wear a moisture-wicking T-shirt, that will absorb the sweat. We suggest you soak the T-shirt in the bathroom sink if you stop for a rest. Wring it out and put it back on. Mesh jackets in combination with a damp T-shirt will provide a cool breeze while you ride.
If nothing mentioned beats the heat, then it`s time you invest in a cooling vest. Just soak it in the water and wear it underneath your vented motorcycle gear for a pleasant summer ride.
We can’t stress this enough-our bodies consist of 70% of water so we have to keep them well hydrated, especially during the summer. Either you pack a water bottle with you, use a hydration bladder, or make some stops for a drink along the way. It is also smart to eat something salty, to keep your electrolytes in balance. Stop at the first sign of dizziness, crankiness, or headache for a bite and a sip of water.
To avoid the scorching heat, check your weather app and pick the time when the temperatures are still bearable. During the summer this would be either at dusk or at dawn. Plan your trips accordingly to avoid overheating yourself and your e-bike.
Go Off road
Asphalt and concrete buildings in the summer can get unbearably hot. Add the traffic jams and you are up for a ride from hell. Literally. On the other hand, wooded areas with their soil paths are perfect to hide from the hot sun and to enjoy a pleasant ride. Just make sure you are allowed to ride in the chosen area and keep the good manners when riding.
Your e-motorcycle gets hot too
We had already mentioned that EV batteries are sensitive to extreme heat or cold. To get the best out of your summer ride, accelerate and stop smoothly, and drive moderately, since high speeds in the combination with high temperatures draw more power out of the battery, shortening the range of your e-bike. When resting, park your e-ride in a shade and if possible, remove the battery and keep it away from the direct sunlight.
